Wolsey QR 10 (digital & analogue)

The Wolsey QR ranges of aerials were specifically developed for the new digital uhf transmissions. The whole range utilizes a PCB balun (with captive signal transfer).

High gain aerial for freeview and analogue reception. Probably the most popular high gain aerial in the market today.

C/D Group & Wideband Aerial.

Digital/Analogue 52 element aerial. Probably the most popular cross element high gain aerial in the market today.

Above are the two main television aerials we install today. Cheaper “contract” aerials are used by other aerial installers, these are NOT digital ready aerials and most are “grouped” which, whilst fine for analogue reception, are not suitable in the future for digital reception. Digital aerials must be wideband to accommodate for any change in the frequencies at digital changeover in 2010*. A new aerial installation MUST be wideband or look forward to installing a new one in 2010*!

*Digital switchover in Scotland

Why is digital switchover happening?

Already just under 70% of UK households have chosen to go digital, as Digital TV offers more choice and a better quality viewing experience. The Government wants everyone to enjoy the benefits of digital TV and key to this is to ensure that everyone has a greater choice of affordable digital TV options.

Today about 1 in 4 UK households cannot get the full range of digital TV services available free through an aerial, and 1 in 5 UK households can not get Five through their aerial. Access to these services will increase after digital switchover, so switchover will make it fairer for everyone.

Digital switchover will also help the UK continue as a world leader in broadcasting. It will ensure that today’s ageing terrestrial broadcasting network is replaced by the best available technology, digital.
